History of Grasse, the world capital of fragrances

Located at 12km from the North of Cannes, between the Mediterranean and the Southern Alps, the city of Grasse is a true cradle of scents. Its soft climate and favorable to farming also allowed to preserve for a long time very precious raw materials, fragile and sometimes from very far away.

As a small piece of heaven for the precious Kings of France at that time, its local crafts developed, thanks to mills, tanneries and soap factories, and also a fine craftsmanship, an unparalleled expertise, recognized across regions and time.

Thanks to a very beneficial environnement for the growing of particular plants and flowers, like the famous Rose de Grasse or the Jasmin, this charming little French city saw its perfumery industry grow and success, making it today the world capital of fragrances.
